DR. Lynne Boyle Grant / John Schimpf Scholarships

Scholarships are being offered to full-time undergraduate and graduate students, majoring in broadcasting, video production, post-production and media at an accredited college, university or community college in the Michigan area.

High Schools

The High School Grant Competition is for a school system video class, to submit a video about their school’s efforts / initiatives in order to vie for monies for school equipment and materials

College

College Scholarships are for Undergraduate (2nd-Term Sophomores / Juniors / Seniors) and Graduate students, with a compilation video submission of the applicant’s current work.

Honor Code

All information and materials supplied to The Michigan Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ College Scholarship / High School Grant Committee must be accurate, links accessible, cleared for promotional use and subject to verification.

By submitting an application in the MI-NATAS College Scholarship or High School Grant Program, you are certifying that:

For the High School Grant

  • You are the instructor / teacher of a scheduled TV production and/or post-production (editing) class, etc.
  • The grant will be used to purchase production equipment for your school’s studio / class submitted projects / works are from the current school year’s class, and is all the students’ own work.
  • Commercially produced or stock footage is not allowed. The submitting class is a certified, accredited class; and not a club.

College

  • Your grades and test scores are being reported accurately.
  • Your essay and other written responses are your work alone, without inappropriate assistance from others or the inclusion of text authored by others.
  • Your representation of involvement in creative works, school activities, and/or field work experience is completely truthful.
  • You will apply any scholarship monies awarded towards a college-level education in a designated major and/or curriculum pursuant towards a career in the television broadcast media industry or related field.

The Scholarship / Grant Committee of the Michigan Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will determine the scholarship / grant recipients, and their decisions are final.

Applications that violate the letter or spirit of this HONOR CODE will be disqualified from current and future scholarship consideration. Additionally any awarded scholarship may be revoked at the sole discretion of the MI-NATAS Scholarship / Grant Committee for cause.

General Rules

Only Michigan residents and high schools are eligible for the MiNATAS scholarship and/or grant. Work submitted must be done by the students and/or class, and reflect the students’ abilities. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit. Scholarship applicants must be currently enrolled / accepted in a Michigan accredited associate or baccalaureate college or university program. High School grant applicants must be currently enrolled in, designated as, and recognized / designated as an accredited Michigan high school. Decisions of the MI-NATAS Scholarship/Grant Committee regarding eligibility and awardees are final.

HIGH SCHOOL Grant Application

General Rules

Only Michigan High Schools are eligible. The school may be public or private, including accredited chárter schools. Awardees are selected on the basis of quality and merit. Work submitted should be current, and only from the students’ (class) submitting the project, and not produced, shot, nor edited by a teacher or instructor.
